This month we are featuring client, Josiah Wren. As a musician, Josiah really uses fashion to connect & communicate JOY in herself & others.
What’s your name? Josiah Wren, but my stage name is Sparrow Wren!
How would you describe your personal style? According to my initial styling appointment at The Difference, I am linear & dramatic in style. I think of that as clean lines with at least one piece that has impact & uniqueness… one piece that makes me smile!
What is your philosophy on dressing for joy? Fashion makes my day… it’s walking art that makes me smile inside & calls out to others that I am approachable & authentic. Every day is a chance to create moveable art that I get to walk around with!
Tell us a little bit about your music! Do you have any upcoming performances or events we should know about? My next show is a charitable event for Cowlitz County Music in Kelso Saturday, December 7. My next ‘regular’ show will be at 14 Acres in Ridgefield 6pm-8pm December 27. 14 Acres is a regular monthly venue for me – it is family owned, open to all ages & FREE! I am taking the majority of December off to record my first solo album which is scheduled to be released next February. I currently have 9 originals streaming under Feather and Fur, a collaboration with Frank Murray who is well known for fronting the award-winning Tom Petty tribute band, Petty Fever. For more info on upcoming music or shows you can follow me on Instagram @Sparrow.wren or Facebook Sparrow Wren.
How would you describe your experience working with a stylist at The Difference? The Difference has been great! I’ve been working with them since about 2015 or 2016. It was eye-opening & helped to show me who I am & what I want from my wardrobe in order to enjoy my closet more & to make fewer mistakes. I find that I buy less for price or for trends & more for my own sense of style. I love getting new ideas about what might be fun for each current stage of life & I feel like my stylist helps me be more expressive of who I am, versus just selling me what might be on trend. When I first began working with The Difference, I had to drive to Lake Oswego! Having a Downtown Vancouver location has been such a gift!!!
