Style Spotlight: Cyndy Hillier, Executive Director of Tualatin Together, Community Volunteer and self-proclaimed Softball Mom
Tell us about your lifestyle
My day changes quickly – from walking the dog to a need to be in a ‘wear heels’ meeting. I like to look nice when working – whether that is at my desk, pulled into a meeting at the county or school district, or talking with a group of youth.
My passion for engaging in work that helps youth achieve their full potential, coupled with the fact that both of our children have graduated from high school – I have chosen to find a new way to serve our community. I am running for Tualatin City Council. I do not know if I will be chosen by the citizens of Tualatin, but I do know that Cheryl and The Difference will be sure I have the style that best represents me and makes me feel confident and at ease.
Tell us about your personal style and how that has come alive since working with The Difference.
Over the last several years I have been transitioning my hair to highlight my well-earned silver streaks! As my streaks turn to full swatches of silver, it has impacted my wardrobe choices around color, style and even the accessories Cheryl helps me choose. Her refreshing honesty and willingness to think outside the box to complement what I have now and how to economically transition to my new look!
You’ve been working with The Difference for more than two decades! What are some of your favorite memories?
Favorite outfits have changed over the years. I always love what Cheryl and my husband pick out for me for Christmas! That usually turns into a favorite. I also love that my daughters buy their jeans, many shirts and accessories at The Difference. It speaks to the fact that you can be 18 or 81 to invest in yourself and let The Difference come along on the ride with you!
What’s something you’d share with women to encourage them to shop at The Difference?
Shopping at The Difference is an investment IN YOURSELF. It is a place where 100% of the focus is you. Who are you? Sometimes that is a hard question for women to answer. I know I have to ask regularly to keep my center. At The Difference, they naturally bring out who you are and help you stay realistic with your wardrobe to achieve your look – whether it be on the golf course, in the board room or visiting your grandkids in a sunny destination. They are always thinking of what works best for you.
