In this month’s Style Spotlight we catch up with Client Barb Attridge, a client of The Difference since 1998! She shares what shopping with The Difference was like in the 90’s & one of her favorite shopping memories.
How long have you been a client of The Difference? Since 1998! Those were the days when your initial appointment included doing your color palette by identifying what “season” you were… I was a combo of Fall/Summer. You received a book that contained your color chips in an array of shades and tones that you took with you when you went shopping to help you select the most flattering colors for your skin tone. Also, the appointment included make-up and skincare. At the time The Difference sold jewelry, accessories and make-up, but not clothing. Your stylist went shopping at Nordstrom and brought the clothing back to The Difference for your styling appointment.
How do you describe your lifestyle? I retired in 2014. I was the co-founder and executive director of Dress for Success Oregon, retiring after 16 years in that role. Since retiring 9 years ago, I have a pretty casual but active lifestyle. I work out/exercise every day. Cycling and weight classes, along with yoga, walking and playing golf primarily in the spring/summer months. I also enjoy spending time with my friends and family, volunteering, traveling, cooking and having quiet time for meditating and reading.
How did you hear about The Difference? Back in 1998 I won a styling appointment at The Difference at a local auction. I fell in love with The Difference at my first appointment, with their unique, personalized approach to helping you look and feel your best.
Describe some of your favorite things about your Stylist and experience at The Difference? Nicole is wonderful and enjoyable to work with. She has a great eye for design/color and has opened my mind to trying styles or colors that I would not have considered on my own (and I think I have a good sense of style and design for myself!). I always feel on “cloud 9” after my appointments, excited to wear my new outfits that feel like a unique expression of my style.
Do you have a favorite outfit/product/memory associated with The Difference? One of my favorite shopping memories at The Difference was about 7 years ago when I was planning my wardrobe for a 2-week trip to Spain, with one piece of carry-on luggage. It ended up being a group effort of the personal stylists at that time, quite a challenge! They came up with the most stylish wardrobe for me… mixing and matching different tops/bottoms and jackets/sweaters, and of course, accessories to pull it all together. I felt so well put together wherever we went, it made my trip so enjoyable!
What’s something you’d share with women to encourage them to honor their personal style and shop at The Difference? Having a personal stylist is a real gift to yourself. At The Difference, you have a talented and experienced stylist help you build your wardrobe, so you always have the right outfit for the occasion… whether for work, going out socially, traveling or relaxing with friends at home. Also, what I really appreciate about The Difference is they provide the complete look with accessories, shoes, and make-up so you feel your best in any situation – that’s priceless!
