Tell us a bit about yourself… I am an incoming Junior at Columbia River High School and I have been an intern at The Difference for a few weeks now. A couple of fun facts about me are that I am an eagle scout and the first girl to be an eagle scout specifically from my troop. I am very active and am a 3-season sport athlete – I definitely stay busy. I also love anything to do with creativity. Some of my hobbies include painting, drawing, and finding new fun ways to do my hair! Something that I personally love about fashion is that it is a great form of self-expression. I have been picking out my own outfits from a very young age as a way to showcase my creativity and build my own personal confidence. For me, fashion and clothing are another way to express how I am feeling for that day, or how I want to be feeling. I find joy every morning in looking at my closet and picking out how I want to express and showcase myself for the day. That is something that I can only dream about sharing with the world and helping others feel the same way because for me it is such an important part of who I am and who I want to be.
What interests you about a future career in the marketing industry? Something that very deeply interests me about a future career in the marketing industry is the ability to showcase who and what a brand is and stands for. I feel that it is very important to know and understand what brands are about and who their target audience is. The consumer should know where they are shopping from and I want to help make that possible for them. Something that interests me more personally is that you can use your creativity in many different ways. I want to be able to create different ways for consumers to view products and brands.
What have you experienced about the culture of The Difference that you would want to bring into a future career? Something that I have noticed about the culture of The Difference that I find to be truly magical is the welcoming and supporting environment that they bring to their business and to their customers. In my time at The Difference as an intern, I really notice the feeling of support and inspiration that hangs in the air, due to them being the business that they are. I choose to highlight this aspect because the environment that they build seems to bring out a confidence that may have been hiding before. I would love to bring this kind of culture into future careers because of that confidence that it creates, not just in yourself, but also within the others around you.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? There are endless possible answers for this question… because in reality, any number of things will occur in the next 5 years. For me I will have graduated high school and I should be finishing college. When it comes to the business side, I would like to be kicking off my career in marketing. I would especially love to be working in fashion/clothing marketing because it is something that I am very passionate about and would like to pursue. In 5 years, I will truly be beginning my adulthood and hopefully will be doing the thing I love most, which is being creative and putting it to the test in the marketing and fashion industry.
